Sticking to a budget

ZingEver heard of the word “tradeoff”? It means you have to give up something to get something.

I’m not sure I like the sound of that. I don’t want to give anything up!

It’s not easy — I know! I’d rather have fun here on Earth than use my money to buy gas for my spaceship.

But a smart Earthling gave me some good advice. Ask yourself these questions before you go out to buy something…and be ready for tradeoffs!

Is it something you need or is it something you want?

ZingIs it cheaper at another store? Is there something similar that’s cheaper and that you can live with?

Is there a better way to spend your money? If you keep a diary of every penny you spend, you’ll see just where your money is going — or where it shouldn’t be going!

How can you modify your budget so you can afford what you want?

ZoeyThanks, Zing, that was super helpful! When I want something, I’ll ask myself those questions first!

Remember! Think before you buy.

Ask yourself:

  • Do I need it or want it?
  • Is it cheaper at another store? Can I live with something similar or cheaper?
  • Is there a better way to spend my money?
  • Can I modify my budget to be able to afford this?
