Every month, the bank sends me a statement, which is a summary of all the deposits and withdrawals on my account, as well as any interest I earned. I compare each item on the statement with my account register, just to be sure I didn’t miss anything.
Plus, my statement shows the interest I earned over the month. And as you can see, I entered every transaction. The last withdrawal in my register will show up in next month’s statement.
Later, in the lesson Balancing Your Checkbook, you’ll see how to make sure the bank’s records and yours are the same. Balancing your checkbook helps you know exactly how much money you have in your account!
